Do you know Jérémy Robert and Olivier Guy de Chamisso? If this is not yet the case, it is time to discover these two young talents who caused a sensation this weekend during the My Padel Center Palavas by winning the P1000.
The little ones push the big ones around: it works!
“We have a problem: we don’t train together”
Jérémy: “The good news is that Olivier and I are going to try to participate in more tournaments together in France. For the moment, there is no regular association yet because we do not live in the same region.”
“In November, we have already planned to play together at the P1500 in Strasbourg and the P1000 in Montreuil. Our main problem is that we don't train together. I am from Lyon, he from Paris. It’s a shame, because it prevents us from working on our combinations, testing strategies in training, and developing the chemistry that could help us progress.”
Olivier: “It's indeed a shame, but as we saw in Palavas, that didn't stop us from succeeding. In the end, we surprised our opponents with a fresh approach. I agree with Jérémy, we will probably have to think about a more serious collaboration if we plan to play together in the long term.”
“We played really well together”
Jérémy: “Indoors, we were a little afraid, because our level of play was not satisfactory. We were much more effective outdoors than indoors. We have to take some positives from this semi-final, because despite a lackluster game, we managed to get through it.”
“Our tactic: no tactics!”
Jérémy: “Let’s not talk about tactics, because there weren’t any! (laughing) Every game, we didn't have a specific plan. We take our racket, we get on the court and we play.”
Olivier: “We just played and managed to synchronize and play together, without even talking about it. That’s why I say we got along well on the pitch, because without really thinking about it, we supported each other on every point.”
Jérémy: “You might think we're pretentious, but we shouldn't be afraid of what we feel. We know that we are capable of playing well against the best French players. Individually, we have facilities that make us dangerous adversaries. So no, it’s not really a surprise, especially since we regularly train with top 100/50 French players.”
Jérémy: “At Palavas, we knew we could beat all the pairs in the tournament.”
Olivier: “Even though it was only our second tournament together, we complemented each other very well and got along very well throughout the tournament, which allowed us to win.”
